Google released Android Oreo a year ago. Motorola's Moto G5 or G5 Plus budget smartphones have not received this at present. Motorola just no has started to soak test Android 8.1 for them.

Motorola has a slow pace for providing Android updates. Expect most above-mentioned smartphones to get Android Pie next year. Motorola’s Z2 Force. It was a 2017 flagship, but received Android Oreo only in February 2018. The above listed Motorola smartphones have Project Treble support. Meaning Android Pie update should be available quickly for these Android smartphones.

Project Treble helps manufacturers update their Android devices more quickly. Motorola’s E5 smartphones should have received Android Pie. But alas, the Moto E5 range is not included in the above-mentioned smartphone list. Both the E5 and G6 ranges were launched some months ago. Motorola should improve in the future. Motorola, currently, should first deliver Android Oreo to the G4/G4 Plus and G5/G5 Plus.
